A 75-year-old man lost his life in a house fire in the Silawatta area of Mullaitivu yesterday afternoon (November 29).

The man, who lived alone near his son’s residence, is believed to have accidentally started the fire while lighting flames to combat the cold. The flames spread rapidly, leading to the fatal incident.

His body has been sent to the Mancholai Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination. Mullaitivu Police are conducting further investigations into the cause of the fire.
