European film festival-2017 to be held from October 12 – October 17 at the Tharanganee Hall of the National Film Corporation. The European Film Festival promotes cultural exchanges between Europe and Sri Lanka and aims to promote understanding between people from Sri Lanka and Europe. This will be the tenth consecutive year that the festival will be taking place in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
11 critically acclaimed films from Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Switzerland and the United Kingdom will be screened at this year’s festival. Five short films by young Sri Lankan short filmmakers will be screened during this edition of the festival as well.
The festival is collaboration between the Delegation of the European Union to Sri Lanka and the Maldives in Colombo and the Embassies of the Czech Republic, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Romania, Slovakia, Switzerland, the Alliance Francaise de Kotte, the British Council, the Goethe Institute and the Polish Institute in New Delhi. The European Film Festival in Colombo is curated by Anomaa Rajakaruna and the National Film Corporation of Sri Lanka, is the venue partner.
