Kesavarajan Navaratnam's "Panaimarakkadu (Palmyra forest)" to be screened in Colombo. The film’s first screening outside of Jaffna will take place at the Sri Lanka National film Corporation's Tharangani Theater on 5th December, at 4.00 pm. "Panaimarakkadu" was first screened at the Jaffna Film Festival in September, 2017.
"Panaimarakkadu" is one of the few Tamil feature films created by a Tamil film-maker from the North after end of the war. Further the film presents an internal and fresh perspective which comes from within as the film is based on the director’s lived-in experience of the North in the post war context.
The screening will be followed by a moderated discussion with Kesavarajan Navaratnam, the director of Panaimarakkadu, Asoka Handagama and Vetrichelvi, an author and poet based in the North.
